The Five Principles of Christian Based Selling
Christian Based Selling is not a sales process methodology, although I do explore prospecting and closing strategies. However, the mission of this blog was to explore the lessons the bible teaches us about prosperity, and how to apply those to careers in professional sales to succeed in business AND in our walk. Why is it that faith gets a bad rap in the business world? Are we saying that we must lie and cheat in business? I found that God reveals the principles for abundance in the bible and this blog details my personal journey of discovery.
If you have not explored the blog section of this website, The Daily Dose, I suggest you start at the beginning and then advance through each post. Take notes on the scripture that stand out to you, or, start your own journey of discovery.
The five principles I've identified from the Bible as principles to govern my daily actions in the business world. Hopefully you are already doing these. If not, explore how scripture informs us that we are meant to prosper and that great success comes through honest and smart dealings.
You can share these principles with people of any creed, as it may not be suitable to share Christian faith based materials. It really is pretty simple at the end of the day, work hard, smart, and honest. Yep, those things do and will pay off!

- Honesty
- You must believe in the product and/or services you provide. Then seek to be the best ambassador to the brand.
- Your word is your bond. Do not set expectations for something your company cannot deliver.
- Get another job rather than compromise your integrity. Short term pain will prove to be long term gain.
- Intentional
- Our primary mission is to help clients solve their problems. Seek only to serve your client by helping them to succeed. In doing so, you will succeed.
- Our job is to qualify opportunities to determine if there is a problem we can solve--if not, tell the prospect that it is not a good fit. In doing so, you establish a trusted relationship which is now YOUR asset in YOUR career.
- Your Christian values and business goals are aligned when the prospect has a problem you can solve--go win that deal!
- Studied and Knowledgeable
- We are student's of the art and science of selling. Follow a specific sales process that applies to your company's sales cycle. If it does not exist, work with your management to define the process that reflects the prospect to customer journey.
- Know your prospective client's business. Do your homework--review all publicly available information! Website, quarterly earnings reports, annual report.
- Know the world of business. Read books, find mentors--to prospect you need to understand how businesses make and lose money!
- Know as much as you can about your solution and how it helps clients to increase sales or improve operational efficiency. This will help you to explain the unique value your company can deliver. Always explain value in terms of financial impact first, followed by other benefits.
- Strong Work Ethic
- Do the work. Set goals for yourself--think abundance in doing so.
- Control your mental state. You will not perform well if you expect things to fail. Follow and trust the process.
- Enabler of others
- Be the type of teammate you want your teammates to be
- Teach others to fish, in doing so, you get better.
- Lead by example
