Philippians 4:6

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

Christian Based Selling

God reveals to us through scripture that we can indeed make requests in our prayers. I always thought that there are bigger trials going on in the world than my YTD revenue performance. I felt God would be completely unimpressed by a prayer to close that next big deal to really blow my numbers out for the year.

Just as a child will ask a parent for a toy we see in Philippians 4:6 that it is okay to ask God for that deal to you want to close. Does that mean we will get the deal because we asked God for it? Does the child always get the toy?

Since God encourages us to make requests, I figure it doesn't hurt to ask! When you win that next big deal be sure to be grateful. When people ask you how you do what you do, be  sure to share that your faith is your inspiration for perspiration so that others may seek to find what you have found.

In terms of requests being granted, perhaps it comes down to where we are in our spritual journey.  Ask yourself this as a gut check, what and who else are you praying for? Are you reading the word?

Thanks for these good reminders, especially to focus on the GIVER rather than the GIFTS - and not the other way around, which can lead to placing the focus on the gifts and the benefits that we get from them.

I've been anxious about an upcoming change in my career, and I have been lifting my anxiety and this burden to Him in prayer. It's been helpful for me to remember that He is a good good father to His children (Luke 11:11-13), and that we can/should cling to the One who can calm the storms in our lives with just a word (Matthew 8:23-27).

Hi Calvin,

Yes, what matters is our relationship with the GIVER and the love we have in our lives. Our circumstances, both professional and personal, are subject to change. God is the only constant.

Thank you for sharing your scripture references. Yes, it is amazing how we can cast our anxieties onto God and be freed of our burdens so we can make the most of each day.

John
