Christian Based Selling

As professional sales people we are well aware that the word network is both a noun and a verb.  We network with people over coffee, lunch or drinks to build our network because it is harder than ever to reach a senior executive without a warm introduction.  The people we network with are former colleagues, family, friends, clients, old classmates, former clients, neighbors, etc.   It is great to know people who are potentially able to help us.   

The bible reminds us that we need to be selfless in helping others as we pursue our own interests.  We need to guard against allowing our own priorities to drive a selfish mindset when we are networking.  If we fail to ask others how we can help them, then we lose the opportunity to build a mutually valued relationship.  As Christians, our willingness to help others cannot be dependent on their ability to help us.
