"Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him."

Christian Based Selling

As sales professions our revenue quota is the mountain we need to conquer.  We must believe we will succeed or our spirit will be crushed before we take our first step.  The biggest threat to success in sales is to  allow fear to negatively influence our actions or words.   We need to work hard and smart with the belief that our effort will produce an abundant yield.

We face a great deal of rejection which can shake our confidence if we do not protect our mental health.  We experience the greatest amount of rejection in the most critical aspect of our job--prospecting.   When our efforts fail to produce opportunities at the pace we expect we can become paralyzed which only compounds the problem.  We need to continually remind ourselves that we have to work through the "no's" to get to a "yes."  We need to believe the results will come and keep doing our job  with enthusiasm, joy and confidence.  It is all part of climbing the mountain!

Bringing new deals into the pipeline through prospecting will fuel your confidence to be more discriminating of your existing pipeline.  You will find yourself asking tougher questions in qualifying because you need to know which opportunities warrant your valuable time.  Your prospective clients will sense that your time is valuable to you and will be attracted to your successful mindset and professionalism.

We don't want to look at the climb to the top of the mountain each day.  Therefore it is important to break down your annual revenue goal to quarterly, monthly, weekly and daily objectives in terms of activity, pipeline and revenue.   By doing so, we can focus our attention on what must be done today to put us at the top of the mountain at the end of the year.
