Joshua 1:9

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Christian Based Selling:

We explored yesterday that we need to allow ourselves to have fun and find joy in our work.  We all face circumstancial pressures but as Christians we just put those anxieties on the Lord so we have a clear mind to focus on being our best.  Our career in professional sales is such a blessing.  We meet with so many interesting people and help our clients to solve their problems.   We compete against tough competitors  in dynamic situations with prospective clients that demand all of our intellect, creativity, knowledge, business acumen, social skills and sales experience to win business.

There is a notion in the world, among both Christians and non-Christians alike, that you will get eaten alive in business if you aren't willing to compromise your Christian values.  I understand this misconception because I once believed it myself.   However, over a period of years, I started stumbling upon scripture that I began applying to my professional life and found myself selling in new and exciting ways.  I started this blog this year because I knew I needed the social pressure of writing a daily weekday blog post to propel me to dig deeper into the Bible.   I felt that my material world interest would also help drive my spiritual growth.  My theory has been astoundingly true!

Perhaps this misconception that Christianity has no place in business is rooted in scripture that has made it into our social conscience such as Matthew 5:5 "The meek shall inherit the Earth".    I've learned that “meek” is from the Greek term praus. It does not suggest weakness; rather, it denotes strength brought under control. The ancient Greeks employed the term to describe a wild horse tamed to the bridle.

As professional sales people we strive to bring our strength under control.  Strength without control is like a major league pitcher with a 98 mph fast ball who can't get it over the plate.  It is a fallen world but people love to see a light in the darkness.   As a sales professional who actively applies Christian principles to their work, you have the opportunity to be that light in the room.

As a Christian Based Sales professional, your faith will fuel your courage and give you strength to land the largest deals of your career and take down your most formidable competitors.
