Galatians 6:10

So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone.

Christian Based Selling

As sales professionals our network is critical to our success.  In order to keep it growing and healthy, we need to approach our networking with a willingness to help everyone we meet without expectation for reciprocation.  While we have an urgency to make connections to potential clients, we must put the needs of the people we meet before our own.

Due to our profession we typically have a much more expansive network than the average person.  We have the connections to help people find jobs, help their kids find mentors/jobs and more.  It is a perk of our work that we get to meet a lot of people and therefore we are in a position to make valuable introductions.

We need to keep in mind that we will help people who will not reciprocate when we call upon them for help.  While it's tempting to feel that they owe us if, for example, we helped them get a job.  While it may be dissappointing, we must remember that we are Christians first and professional sales people second.  When we have the opportunity we do good to everyone just as we read in Galations 6:10.

Have you ever met a taker?  How did you feel?  Did you help them?  If so, would you be as willing to help them again?
