3 John 1:2 ESV

Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul.

Christian Based Selling:

As professional sales people we put in a lot of hours and deal with a great deal of stress.  This will take a toll if we don't manage our health.  If we are working on our career and  faith but ignoring our body then we need to make a change.   Our health will contribute to the quality of our personal and professional lives so it demands our full attention.

We need to make the time in our schedule to excercise.  I enjoy a morning workout as I feel a sense of accomplishment before the business day begins.  Since we are sales people, don't overlook the fact that joining a gym can be a great way to get fit and build your network!

What do you do to stay in shape?

Hebrews 13:5 ESV

Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Christian Based Selling:

As professional sales people, our YTD performance is evaluated on a weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual basis.  Our daily work life is centered on finding and closing deals to produce revenue for our firm and commission for ourselves.   Our profession is centered on money!

As Christians it is important to guard against the seduction of money.  It is fine to enjoy the blessings the Lord provides us through our work but not  to seek our happiness in material wealth.   Being "content" does not mean we are not driven to succeed but  rather that our identity is anchored  in the Lord.  When God is at the center of our life we are aligned both personally and professionally to enjoy abundant blessings.

When we focus on helping prospective customers to solve their problems with our solution our prospects will recognize our intention to serve them as opposed to serving ourselves.   As a result, we will build long lasting trusted relationships that will lead us to new clients and abundance.  The money we earn is a bi-product of our passion to serve our clients' best interests.

What are your intentions?  Are you chasing deals or are you serving people?

Proverbs 12:15

The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but a wise man listens to advice.

Christian Based Selling:

As professional sales people, we need to value input from our colleagues and leadership about how we are approaching business development.  Our colleagues can offer valuable tips on various aspects of our job such as prospecting or guidance on how to close a particular type of deal.  Let us have the humility to seek help when needed or graciously accept unsolicitated advice.  When we are open to listening to the advice of others we increase our opportunity to achieve greater success.

Does your ego stand in your way of listening to advice?  Do you collaborate with your peers to get suggestions on what's working?

1 Thessalonians 5:11

Therefore encourage one another and build one another up

Christian Based Selling:

Just as we need to support the spiritual walk of others, we need to encourage our peers.  As professional sales people, we all experience highs and lows throughout the sales year.  Be the teammate that you would like to have on the team.

Do you have a colleague who needs an encouraging word?

Have a great holiday weekend with friends and family!  Next post will be on Tuesday.  See you then!
