1 Corinthians 9:24
"Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it."

Christian Based Selling

We have all heard the phrase, worker smarter not harder.  Yes, we need to work smart.  But the Lord let's us know if we want the prize we have to put in the effort!

The hardest part of sales is prospecting for new opportunities.  It is filled with rejection so we love to find ways to justify spending our time on other "working smart" activities.   Sending random emails or placing an occasional phone call won't yield much of a result.  We need to be honest with ourselves about how much prospecting we need to do on a weekly basis to be effectively planting and watering the seeds of opportunity.  Consistent and persistent follow up is the key to making our own luck.

How do you keep yourself motivated to do the tough work of building pipeline?

Block off prospecting time on my calendar each day. NOTHING is permitted to interfere in that effort. from 8-9, and again from 11-1:30 I prospect.

I agree. Setting time for prospecting is important. I typically find Tuesday and Thursday best for that... but also realize that when you’re in a funk, or hitting duds, or getting bad responses back... realize it’s good to take a break... go for a walk... hit another to do item... and come back to the prospecting later

Yes, selling is a profession that requires us to manage our emotions on a daily basis. Maybe even hour by hour, minute by minute! Taking a break to restore and revitalize is essential. Great tip!
